Library Card

Getting a card, renewing items, placing reserves, etc.

Who can get a card

Getting a card at our Library is free if you live in the City of Jonesville, Fayette, and Scipio townships. If you are out of our district there is a $10.00 per card per year fee to use the library.

How to Get Your card

You must be 18 yrs. old or have a parent or a Legal Guardian sign for the child. You must show a valid driver's license or an I.D. card & live in one of the townships listed above or pay our $10.00 per card fee for out of district area.

Placing Reserves

You may place a hold for an item by calling or visiting the library.

When an item comes in that you have on reserve the library staff will notify you by the phone number on your account. You have 5 days to pick up an item on hold. The Item will then be put back into circulation for the next Patron to check out.

Library Fines

Fines are .10 per item per day.

There is a one day grace period on regular items.

New DVDs & BluRays, STEM Kits, and WonderBooks are fined at $1.00 per day with no grace period.

Regular Items go out for 2 weeks.

New DVDs & BluRays and STEM Kits checkout for 1 week with no renewals.

Renewing Your Borrowed Item

You can call the library and we can do renewals over the phone or in person. If there is a reserve on the item that you want to renew than we cannot renew that item for you.

Borrowing Limits

There are no limits on regular library checkouts. Exceptions are:

  • Limit of 3 new DVDs or BluRays at a time             
  • Limit of 5 regular DVD's at a time
  • Limit 1 STEM kit per family at a time
  • Limit 3 WonderBooks at a time

Overdue Policy

The 1st notice will be a telephone call when your item is 15 days overdue.

If you cannot be reached by phone you will be sent a letter

The 2nd notice will be sent when the item is 30 days past due.

At this time library privileges are suspended until items are returned or replaced and fines are paid.

The 3rd notice will be a certified letter when the item is 60 days past due. You will have 14 days to return the items or replace them. If the certified letter is returned unclaimed the overdue information will be turned over to the Jonesville Police.

The 4th notice will be from the Jonesville Police. If you have not returned the items or contacted the library within 14 days, the Jonesville Police will be asked to contact you on our behalf.

Remember you are responsible for everything that you allow someone else to check out on your library number.
